Marriage of Simon Herzog and Kati Fried:

Simon Herzog was born to Samuel Moshe Shmiel and Sali Kati Cheyla Fried on 9 March 1830.  On June 7, 2018. Péter Csángó sent the following translation from the Hebrew in an email to Mimi Reed:

If you look at the gravestone, the text tells us that he was the president of the Nagyszombat Jewish community. 
He offered his life to public affairs and his family. 
He moved from this world (literally from the living) in the 79th year of his blessed life.
The text starts with Here is resting, which can not be interpreted otherwise. 
He died on 9 Sep 1908 and lived to be 79 years old.

His grave is quite near that of Miksa Haberfeld and Etelka Herzog.

 

1.)   Simon Herzog was a merchant (Kaufman) in Tyrnau, (Nagyszombat, Trnava) and his parents were Samuel Herzog and Sali Kati Fried. Simon was born in Werbo and he had a wine, vinegar and liquor factory.

2.)   He married Kati Fried. Born in Pjesko, near Bolesó.  Her parents were Hermann Fried and Rebecka Grün. She was an Ökonom in Tyrnau. Tyrnau was a former municipality in Austria.
