He married JUDITH JONAS 03 Apr 1796 in Great Synagogue, London, daughter of JONAH JONAS.
Notes for SOLOMON BENJAMIN:
Also: in 1841:
Solomon Benjamin, age 80 born in foreign parts, like [his wife] Esther aged 75.
Solomon Zalman, son of Mordecai Amsterdam
In 1841 a Solomon Benjamin, General Dealer, age 77, born 'in foreign parts' was living with his 78 year old wife Mary Benjamin [presumably his wife] address hard to read. This Solomon? Likely, as birth date given as 1764! Of course, Judth could have died and he married again to a Mary.
Probably, Solomon was born in Amsterdam.
Per Mandy Janes:
I think I may have found Solomon Benjamin (born about 1771) in the 6th June 1841 census. The reference is HO107/710/14 Folio 11 Page 14. This person is a General Dealer living in Tripes Yard where Henry Benjamin is living in the 1861 census. The interesting thing is also living in Tripes Yard (on the other side of the same page) is a Jonas Benjamin aged 40, also a General Dealer. Could Jonas be another son of Solomon? This Solomon was born in 'Foreign Parts' I wonder where?
Mandy's 1841 Solomon is more likely to be ours. 1. Because our Solomon was, we are fairly sure, married to Judith Jonas; 2.Tthe Tripes Yard connection is possibly significant; 3. Also there was often a five year or so discrepancy between the real age and the age entered on the census! 4. Also living there in 1841 is the Abady family - then 13-year old Mark married our Henry's [Solomon's son] daughter Julia!
