אריה לייב בן חיים
Aryeh Leib Ben Hayyim (1741-1809), rabbi, born in Breslau (now Wroclaw, Poland), he lived from childhood in Lissa (now Leszno, Poland) and then was rabbi first in Berlin, then in Emden before moving to Rotterdam in 1781 and remaining there for the rest of his life. A distinguished Talmudist, many noted rabbis addressed to him their queries. His responsa demonstrate a tendency to independent thinking. He also wrote prayers.
