Taubes, Aharon Moshe Ben Jacob
Rabbi
He was a pupil of Yaakov Ornstein of Lvov, Poland (now in Ukraine). He served as rabbi of Sniatyn, Poland, and in 1841 was appointed rabbi of Jassy and district, in Romania. In this position he was of considerable influence on Romanian Jewry. Taubes was an outstanding rabbinical authority and rabbis from many places turned to him with their queries in Jewish law. He wrote responsa, comments on the Talmud, and a work on the Pentateuch which shows his knowledge of Kabbalah.
